Articles on: Email Verifier

What do email verification statuses mean?

The Email Verifier in Anymail Finder allows you to check email addresses that were not found through Anymail Finder searches or that were collected some time ago.

It uses the same real-time verification algorithm as searches, but runs on email addresses you provide manually or upload in bulk.

When should I use the Email Verifier?

Use the Email Verifier if:

  • Your emails were sourced from another tool or database
  • You imported a list from outside Anymail Finder
  • Your emails were found more than one month ago
  • You want to confirm deliverability before sending

Emails found directly through Anymail Finder searches are already verified and don’t need to be verified again.

Email verification statuses

When verifying emails, Anymail Finder returns one of the following statuses:

VALID

Safe to send

The email address exists and can receive emails.

  • Passed SMTP and deliverability checks
  • Safe to use in your primary sending setup

RISKY

Use with caution

The email could not be fully confirmed but shows signals of possible deliverability.

Common reasons include:

  • Catch-all domains
  • Greylisting
  • Temporary mail server errors

Recommended use

  • Secondary sending setup
  • Low-volume or non-critical campaigns

INVALID

Do not send

The email address failed verification checks.

This means the email:

  • Does not exist, or
  • Cannot receive emails

Sending to INVALID emails will likely result in bounces and can harm your sender reputation.

How billing works for verifications

Unlike searches, all email verifications are charged, regardless of the result. This is because system resources are used to run a full verification process on each email.

Verification credits are consumed for:

  • VALID
  • RISKY
  • INVALID
